A woman was killed in what seems to be a shark attack whilst swimming off the coastline of Maine on Monday, officials explained.
She was wading off the shore of Bailey Island about 3:30 p.m. when a witness saw her getting attacked by what seemed like a shark, Maine Maritime Patrol said.
A pair of kayakers helped her get to shore, and an ambulance furnished further support, but she was pronounced lifeless at the scene, the authorities explained.
The swimmer’s identify wasn’t introduced, pending notification of her household.
The incident would be only the next recorded unprovoked shark attack in the point out, the Portland Press Herald reported.
